Over the next few years the federal government will start phasing out the freon refrigerant now known as(R-22) and presently used in all home a/c units.  There is a cap on the present production and the phase out is to start 2004.  This is being done because R-22 is an ozone harming chemical when it leaks into the atmosphere.

When the reduction of R-22 takes place the price is projected to go up, just like it did in the automotive industry a few years ago.  The price of R-12 in 1990 for the auto industry was about $3.00 a pound, it increased to presently around $30.00 per pound.

We are offering a new higher efficiency, quieter, environmentally sound central air conditioner.  The Bryant QUANTUM PLUS with PURON.  This unit will have the new PURON refrigerant (R-410A) that will be the replacement for R-22.  While this unit is a little more money,  it is higher efficiency, much quieter, and has a 10 year compressor warranty.

The standard air conditioners are rated at 10 seer( seasonal energy efficiency ratio) and use R-22 refrigerant.

The BRYANT QUANTUM PLUS is rated at 12 seer, and will use PURON (R-410A) refrigerant.
